本研究以2021年7月我国发布的“双减”政策为背景。在我国教育减负政策的发展中,初中英语教师面临着责任扩大带来的压力。因此,本研究关注“双减”政策执行初期,初中英语教师在课堂教学、作业和课后服务、考试安排中面临的挑战。本研究通过对8位教师进行了半结构化访谈,并借助MAXQUA 2020对文本进行主题分析。研究发现,在提升课堂教学效能的高期待中,英语教师面临课堂教学中的诸多问题;其次,课后服务延长了教师的工作时间,并尤其影响了女性教师在自身家庭中的责任履行,而作业的减少和家庭教育的缺失或不当则为教学带来更高难度;另外,考试对学生英语的应用能力要求提高。虽然挑战重重,但初中英语教师在不断尝试发展自身的应对策略,甚至主动承担更多教育教学责任。

This study is conducted under the background of the implementation of the Double Reduction Policy which came out in July 2021. Under the policy, junior high school English teachers are facing with the pressure of taking more responsibilities. Therefore, this study focuses on junior high school English teachers’ challenges in classroom teaching, homework and after-school services, as well as examination arrangements in the early stage of the implementation of the Double Reduction Policy. This study conducted semi-structured interviews with 8 teachers and thematic analysis were made in MAXQUA 2020. The study has found that in the higher expectation of improving the efficiency of classroom teaching, English teachers have many problems. Secondly, after-school services bring excessive work hours and affect teachers’ role in their own families especially for female teachers, while the reduction of homework and the insufficient family education make teaching harder. Thirdly, higher practical ability is required in English examination. Faced with such the challenges, junior high school English teachers are constantly trying to develop their own strategies as well as taking on more responsibilities voluntarily.
