近年来,人文精神的失落已经成为我国现代大学发展过程中一个不容忽视的问题。由此引发的一系列问题直接影响了我国国民素质的提高和整个的社会的和谐与可持续发展。然而,从世界范围来看,哈佛,这所生长在实用主义价值哲学土壤中的美国大学,时至今日,却依然保持着浓厚的人文气息,其中缘由,值得深思。本文在分析现代大学的本质及其灵魂——人文精神的基础上,以哈佛本科课程体系改革为背景,梳理了哈佛在各个历史时期,面对社会的急剧变化,如何在课程上做出调整,从而既顺应了时代的发展又坚守了大学的灵魂。在此基础上,进一步分析我国现代大学灵魂失落的原因,最后结合我国的特殊国情以及哈佛课程改革的历史经验,对我国大学人文精神的重塑进行了一些初步的探讨。全文分为三个部分。第一部分,叩问现代大学之魂。主要阐述大学的一般原理,揭示出人文精神是现代大学的灵魂,并指出我国现代大学人文精神的现状。第二部分,哈佛课程改革的历程。主要从历史的角度梳理哈佛在不同时代背景中的课程改革以及历次改革对大学人文精神的坚守,并从中总结了其发展的经验。第三部分是本文的重点,分析我国现代大学人文精神失落的原因以及哈佛课程改革对我国重塑大学人文精神的借鉴和启示。从原因来看,本文认为,中国现代大学人文精神的失落既有普遍的原因,也有中国社会特殊的背景。从普遍的原因来看,一方面,现代性的文化基因尤其是其对工具理性的推崇,压抑了价值理性而成为社会的主导,从而造成了专业教育的盛行和人文教育的式微,这就从一定程度上造成了大学人文精神的缺失。另一方面,知识的专业化导致科学知识的文化范典和道德教育的边缘化也是现代大学人文精神失落的一个重要原因。而从中国特殊的国情来看,则主要表现为文明传统的断裂、教育体制的制约以及市场利益的驱动。因而,对于重塑大学人文精神,本文认为,从我国特殊的国情出发并借鉴哈佛的发展经验,则主要应该从以下几个方面努力。第一,明确大学教育目的,树立人文教育理念;第二,继承中国文化传统,重建大学文化自觉;第三,精心设置一系列通识课程,实现科学与人文在教育中的融合;第四,改革校长选拔机制,遴选优秀的教育家作为大学校长;第五,改革高等教育体制,建立现代大学制度。

In recent years, the loss of humanistic spirit has become a problem that modern universities can not be ignored. This triggered a series of problems that directly affect the improvement of the quality of our country and the whole of social harmony and sustainable development. However, from a global perspective, Harvard University, which have grown in the philosophy of pragmatism in the soil of United States, today, but still maintained a strong culture atmosphere, in which reason, it is worth considering. This paper analyzes the essence and soul of the modern university which is based on the humanistic spirit, as the background of the Harvard undergraduate curriculum reform, the paper reviews the various historical periods at Harvard in the face of rapid social change, and how to make adjustments in the curriculum, which not only conforms to the development of the times and adhere to the university's soul. On this basis, further analysis of the reasons for the lost soul of the modern university are made, and finally based on the special circumstances in our country and the Harvard curriculum reform experiences, the reconstruction of humanistic spirit is preliminary discussed. This paper is divided into three parts. Part one: ask the soul of the modern university. This part mainly discusses the general principles of the university, revealing that the humanistic spirit is the soul of the modern university, and points out the status of our modern humanity. Part two: process of curriculum reform at Harvard University. This part draws experience of its history in reviewing the background at different times in the Harvard curriculum reform and the reform of Humanity previous stand by. The third part is the focus of this paper. This mainly analyzes the reasons of the lost humanism in our universities, and the reference and inspiration that Harvard University curriculum reform gives us to reshape the humanistic spirit. This paper argues that the reasons of the lost humanistic spirit of the modern university, not only in common cause, but also on special background of Chinese society. Common cause from the point of view, on the one hand, modernity and its cultural genes especially respected the instrumental rationality, depressed value of the rational and become dominant, resulting in the prevalence of professional education and the decline of humanistic education, which from caused to some extent the lack of humanistic spirit. On the other hand, the specialization of knowledge especially the prevalence of science lead to the marginalization of moral education, that is an important cause of the lost humanism. China's special situation from the point of view is mainly the fault of civilization, the constraints of the traditional education system and the driving of the market interests. This paper argues that, from our special situation and drawing lessons from Harvard experiences , the efforts of remolding humanistic spirit should be made from five aspects, First, clear the purpose of university education , and establish the concept of humanistic education; Second, inherited cultural tradition to strengthen the cultural consciousness; Third, set curriculum carefully, science and humanities in achieving the integration of education; Fourth, reform principal selection mechanism, and select the outstanding educators as a university president; Fifth, reform higher education system, and establish modern university system.
