晚清科幻小说诞生于中西文明冲突、新旧思想交融的时期,其科学观表现出复杂的特征:既有西方现代科学的特点,也有中华传统文化的影子,还饱含对国破家亡的诸多思考。 科学功能被刻意地强调,并与富国强兵,提高国家地位,改变世界秩序紧密相关。同时,在冷漠科学之外,还体现了中国传统的道德思考与天下情怀。 科学器物是臆想的、模糊的。科学幻想具有很强的臆想性,以词语为基础展开。同时,肆意改写科技词语,导致了科技术语能指与所指的割裂,并造成科学形象的模糊。 由于晚清文人科学背景的先天不足,他们的科学观依旧受本土文化的强烈影响,主要表现为两个方面:对地方性知识的肯定,中华传统思维的遗存。
外文摘要:
Science fiction of the late Qing Dynasty came into the world in the time of conflict between the Chinese and Western civilization, as well as old ideas blend with new, which view of science showed complex features: not only does it has the characteristics of modern western science, but also leave a shadow of Chinese traditional culture, also full of thinking on country’s difficult situation. The function of science is deliberately stressed, and closely related to enriching the country, improving the statehood and change of world order. Meanwhile, it reflects the Chinese traditional moral thinking and the care for the world. Scientific objects are imaginary and vague. They were based on words and therefore has a strong imagination. At the same time, rewriting scientific and technical words wantonly leads to the separation of signifier and signified, and the ambiguity of the scientific image. Due to the poor scientific background in the late Qing Dynasty, the writers’ view of science is still strongly influenced by the local culture, which is mainly manifested in two aspects: the affirmation of local knowledge and the remains of the Chinese traditional thinking.
