本论文意在运用弗洛伊德的死亡驱动原理来分析伍尔夫小说《幕间》中的创伤。在文本细读的基础之上，本论文提出因为受死亡驱动的影响，有的人物陷入了创伤的强迫性重复之中，有的人物则表现出自我毁灭和对他者的攻击。从更高的文化层面运用该理论，本论文揭示了小说中的文明深陷于生本能与死本能的对立冲突之中，并且遭受着战争一次又一次的打击。 此外，本论文还论述了伍尔夫本人在战争期间的创伤经历和对弗洛伊德作品的阅读情况。笔者进一步推测正是由于伍尔夫本人的创伤经历，使其更容易受到弗洛伊德思想的影响。本篇论文最后总结道，弗洛伊德影响了伍尔夫对于创伤、战争和死亡的思考，而此影响通过其最后一本小说《幕间》反映出来。

This thesis is an attempt to analyze the traumas in Between the Acts by using Freud’s Death Drive theory. It discusses the characters’ traumas based on a close text reading. It proposes that driven by the death instinct, some characters are constrained into the repetition compulsion of traumas while some characters show self-destruction and destructiveness to others. The Death Drive Theory is used to reveal that the civilization in the novel goes through the struggle between the life instinct and the death instinct and suffers the repeated wars which embody the Death Drive. This thesis also analyzes Woolf’s trauma-repeated life and her reading of Freud since the year of 1939. It ventures to argue that Woolf’s traumatic experiences in the war times have led her to accept Freud’s ideas of traumas, war and death more naturally. It concludes that Freud’s influence on Woolf’s thoughts on traumas, war and death is reflected through her last novel Between the Acts.
