语言迁移是是语言习得中一种重要的语言现象。它是指已习得的语言对目标语言学习的作用。认识语言迁移在学习新的语言中的作用是掌握恰当的学习方法和教学方法的前提。维吾尔族英语学习者是以维吾尔语为母语的学习群体。作为与汉语完全不同的语言,维吾尔语在英语学习中有什么样的作用,是一个需要探讨的问题。本篇论文通过对维吾尔族大学生进行了调查,掌握了他们英语学习基本现状。在已得到的信息为基础,利用母语迁移理论的比较分析法对维吾尔语在这些学生的英语学习中的作用进行了探讨。通过对英语与维吾尔语在语音、词汇和句法等方面进行比较,探究这两种语言在维吾尔族学生的英语学习中的关系。此外,本文还力求揭示维吾尔族英语学习者所具备的优势和所面临的困难。最后,根据研究结果对如何指导维吾尔族学生在学习英语的过程中扬长避短、更加有效,本文也提出了意见。

Language transfer is an important phenomenon in language acquisition. It refers to the effect of the former language which has been known before you start to learn a new language on new language learning. Understanding the role of language transfer in learning a new language is the precondition to master a proper learning strategy in learning as well as a teaching methodology in language teaching. Uyghur English learners are a small group whose mother tongue is Uyghurs. As a different language from mandarin Chinese, what kind of role does Uyghurs is playing in those students’ English learning is unknown yet. In this thesis, the writer tries to understand Uyghur students’ current situation of English learning by doing a survey among the Uyghur college students. On the basis of the information got from the survey, a brief comparison is made between English and Uyghurs’ phonetics, lexicon and syntax by employing the language transfer theory. From the result of the comparison, a conclusion can be drawn about the relationship of these two languages in Uyghur students’ English learning process. Furthermore, the thesis tries to reveal the advantages Uyghur students gained from their mother tongue and some special difficulties which are the negative transfer effects brought by their mother tongue in learning English. In the end, this thesis tries to give some suggestions to English teaching about how to help the Uyghur students make best of the positive transfer effects and about how to decrease negative transfer effects so that Uyghur students can learn English more efficiently.
