本研究对中国内地某计算机辅助词汇学习应用——B应用(化名)及其包含的八个词汇学习策略(图片联想、词根拆分、语境语句、英文解释、中文释义、视频讲解、同义词展示和复习测试)进行了评估。通过对被试前后词汇量(连续使用B应用30天)进行显著性差异检验、对质性访谈数据的分析,以及对质性数据的量化处理,本研究证明了该应用的整体有效性,就应用包含的单一词汇学习策略来看:复习测试、语境语句和中文释义的有效性也得到证明,且它们的运行机制分别为:重复、情景学习、意义拼接、和母语自然转化。图片联想与英文解释的有效性存在一定争议,因为该应用设计的部分图片没有很好地与相应词汇联系,英文释义则因其较母语的不直接被认定在使用B应用过程中没有作用。视频讲解及同义词展示策略这两大策略则更大程度地被判断为没有效用,主要原因为这两大策略使用时需要耗费更多的时间、精力资源。整体来看,本研究将研究对象聚焦于中国内地计算机辅助词汇学习应用、延长实验期限(即延长应用使用时长)以及引入词汇量作为词汇水平评定指标,有所创新。但本研究在应用使用模式、词汇水平评定方式、研究对象范围、策略研究深度以及实验组别设置方面还有一定提升空间。
外文摘要:
This study evaluated a domestic computer-assisted vocabulary learning (CAVL) application, Bapp (pseudonym) in mainland, China, and the vocabulary learning strategies (VLSs) involved (Image, Clipping, Context, English definition, Chinese definition, Video, Synonym, and Test) in it. By doing analysis of variance (ANOVA) on participants’ pre and post vocabulary sizes (after a 30-day continual using of Bapp), analyzing textualized interviews, and digitizing qualitative information, the researcher verified the great effectiveness of Bapp as a whole. Separately, on each VLS, Test, Context, Clipping, and Chinese definition were proved effective, accompanied by a forward discovery ontheir operational principles, which are respectively repetition, situational learning, meaning patching, and L1 (first language) facilitation. Image and English definition gained controversial positions severally for their occasional poor association with target words, and indirectness in memorizing. While Video and Synonym were generally considered not useful because of their common property of time and energy-consuming. Overall, this study innovated from aspects of focalizing its subject on CAVL app in mainland, China, prolonging experiment duration and introducing vocabulary size as vocabulary level indicator. Yet, this study can be furthered in terms of using mode setting, vocabulary level measuring, research scope deciding, VLSs evaluating, and experimental group arranging.
