网站名和书名的翻译，在日常生活中随处可见。一个出色的网站译名和书名不仅能突出其功能和特色，往往还能吸引用户和读者。本文基于笔者参与的Women’s Stuff《女性之书》英译汉合译项目（第33-44章），重点关注原书中作者推荐的补充原文内容的数百条书籍和网站。笔者从中选取25条特点鲜明、代表性强的示例，按照原文特点，将其分为五类：（1）字数过多、不够凝练；（2）主题模糊、区分度低；（3）精心设计、巧妙修辞；（4）或形或意、近似汉语；（5）诙谐幽默，归化俚语。如何处理上述不同类型的网站名和书名就成了本翻译实践报告的重点和难点。在翻译过程中，笔者首先分析原文构成形式、其次展开翻译目的设想，最终对比推敲译文改进。根据原文的不同类型，结合拟实现的目的，将翻译过程中用到的方法划分为以下五类：（1）删繁就简，力求精炼（减译）；（2）增补意义，突出主题（增译）；（3）文字游戏，保留修辞；（4）音意相近，译音译意；（5）贴近生活，化用俚语（套译）。 本文以Women’s Stuff《女性之书》为例，总结了该书中网站名与书名英译汉过程中的重点和难点，梳理了拟达到的翻译目的，希望能为以后网站名与书名翻译人员提供些许启示。 |

The translation of names of books and website is ubiquitous in our everyday life. With an outstanding translation version of its name, a book or a website can not only amplify its function and features, but also attract its readers and subscribers. Based on the English to Chinese (E2C) co-translated program Women’s Stuff, the author focused on hundreds of books and website recommended in Women’s Stuff by the original author and their translations, among which the author has selected 25 representatives as the examples to be discussed in detail in this translation report. They are featured with: (1) the name is too long to be tedious; (2) the theme or topic is vague and not clear; (3) the name is elaborately designed with rhetorical devices; (4) either the shape or the meaning resembles the Chinese Pinyin system; (5) the name is hilarious and suitable for domesticating some Chinese idioms. How to deal with the above five types of names of books and websites has become the difficulties of this translation project. While translation, the author firstly analyzes the source test (ST) features, secondly considers the target translation effect, and lastly makes version comparisons and corrections, by following this pattern, the main body of this report is divided into the following five sections, i.e., (1) Omission to make the essence clear; (2) Addition to be theme-centered; (3) Wordplay to reserve the rhetorical devices; (4) Mixed Transliteration and Liberal Translation; and (5) Adopting Idioms to approach domestication (idiomatic translation).

This report takes Women’s Stuff (an Excerpt of Chapters 33–40) as an example, summing up the important and difficult points on the translation of the names of books and website, highlighting the target translation effects and hopefully providing possible inspiration for the forthcoming book name and website name translators. |
