在对抗战时期历史剧做概观的基础上，可以发现“英雄美人”模式作为西方和中国共有的叙事传统，在此时期创作中得到了广泛的运用。一方面，由于“英雄美人”创作模式切合了观众的审美习惯，题材选择也具有强烈的指向性，于是剧作的现实效果得到了极大发挥；另一方面，抗战时期历史剧中的“英雄美人”模式在艺术考量上也下了不少的功夫；另外，这种模式不仅沿袭了中国的叙事传统，也在其中蕴含了现代的新变化。本文所要考察的正是“英雄美人”模式在抗战时期历史剧中的体现情况：它如何被涵括在历史剧中，得到了怎样的运用；对历史剧社会价值的体现起到何种辅助作用；在艺术层面上有什么样的考量；以及对这种古已有之的叙事传统做了怎样的沿袭和改变。本文主体部分共分四章。第一章分为两部分：首先从中国现代话剧的整体情境出发，对抗战时期历史剧做大致的梳理和概括，其次对“英雄美人”模式的概念做必要解释；第二章从三种典型的构造方式展现“英雄美人”模式在抗战历史剧中的运用，分别为：庙堂与江湖中的英雄美人、草莽英雄与落难美人、“雌雄同体”的英雄美人；而在第三章中则大致阐述了这个模式在抗战时期历史剧的社会价值层面所起之作用。在阐明抗战时期历史剧社会意义的重要性之后，主要从审美心理的契合与题材选择的得当两方面展开论证；第四章主要对“英雄美人”模式的艺术考量做大致概观；在最后一章中，将简单讨论抗战时期历史剧中的“英雄美人“模式对此种叙事传统所做的沿袭和改变。
