With the development of information technology, the Internet has become a new platform for interpersonal communication in today's society. The network environment is different from the real environment. It is anonymous, convenient and easy to control. Empathy generally refers to the understanding and perception of other people's emotions and similar emotional responses based on that. However, the research on empathy under the background of the Internet has gradually attracted the attention of scholars. In this study, questionnaire survey and controlled experiment were used to simulate and manipulate the cyber bullying situation to explore the influence of cyber bullying events and other people's attitudes on individual state empathy, emotional response and bystander behavioral tendency and its internal mechanism from the perspective of onlookers. The research results show that in the process of browsing the Internet, when the individual witnessed the cyber bullying event, it will reduce his positive emotional response, induce more negative emotional response, and further trigger the individual's empathy for the event while resisting the cyber bullying party's behavior. However, when an individual sees another bystander expressing an understanding of the bully, the individual's negative emotional response will be relatively weakened, but there is no significant difference in the level of positive emotion, empathy and behavioral inclination. |
