As one of the basic ways of human labor, housework is often ignored because of being excluded out of social production and value exchange. At the same time, the gender imbalance of housework undertakers further alienates women's housework. From Engels' analysis of housework to the discussion and criticism of the alienation of housework by Marxist feminist scholars since the 20th century, we have a deeper understanding of the productive nature and alienation of housework. Putting women's housework into the perspective of labor alienation theory can help to examine the loss of women's subjectivity in housework and provide theoretical guidance for women's liberation.
