在近些年，现代舞作为一种文化的现象与载体，逐渐被人们广泛的认识并学习着。本文由自身的即兴舞蹈学习经历，和现代舞学习经历出发，探讨“结构式”即兴在现代舞的创作与表演中，可以起到怎样的作用。通过即兴的训练可以让舞者的身体得到充分开发，并且解放舞者的思想。同时，即兴为当代艺术的创作与表演提供灵感已经十分常见，作为创作方式它可以拓宽创作者的视野，作为表演形式的演出也在慢慢进入大众的视野。“结构式”即兴是一个方法的统称，笔者在文中将围绕它的特点和运用，来探讨它在现代舞的创作和表演中起到什么样的作用。
