1949年，中华人民共和国成立后，国家各项事业百废待兴，社会秩序亟待重整。在党的动员与领导下，妇女群众积极响应国家的重大方针与指令，在国家建设中作出了巨大贡献。这一时期的报刊也紧密依托时代背景，对妇女的新形象进行全面刻画与大力宣传。1949年春全国妇联成立后，《新中国妇女》作为其机关刊物于7月创刊，宣传新中国妇女政策，介绍新中国妇女生活，是以妇女问题为中心的重要刊物。

在社会主义建设时期主流价值观的引导下，各报刊中所构建的妇女形象展现了妇女群众的精神风貌，包括追求男女平等的婚姻自由形象、动员与参与经济建设的劳动形象、改善生理卫生风俗的变革形象以及积极参与文化政治生活的知识形象。新中国妇女公共形象的建构不仅展现了妇女社会地位的提高和对社会建设所贡献的力量，更是“新中国妇女”这一历史主体自我意识觉醒与自我解放追求的体现，是妇女解放道路中不可磨灭的光辉印记。

The social publications of this period closely relied on the background of The Times and comprehensively depicted and vigorously publicized the new image of women. In the spring of 1949, after the founding of the All-China Women's Federation, Women of New China as its organ publication was founded in July, to publicize the policy of New China's women, introduce the life of new China's women, which is an important publication centered on women's issues.

Under the guidance of the mainstream values in the period of socialist construction, the images of women constructed in the social publications show the spiritual outlook of the masses of women. It includes the image of freedom of marriage in pursuit of equality between men and women, the image of labor in mobilization and participation in economic construction, the image of change in improving physical and health customs, and the image of intellectual women actively participating in cultural and political life. The construction of the public image of women in New China not only reflects the improvement of women's social status and their contribution to the social construction, but also reflects the self-consciousness awakening and self-liberation pursuit of the historical subject of "New Chinese women", which is an indelible glorious mark on the road of women's liberation.
