As consumer demands for early childhood education (ECE) service quality increase, the ECE industry faces intense market competition and challenges and opportunities brought by policy changes, evolving demands, and technological advancements. In this context, R Chain ECE Institutions, as a key player in the industry, urgently need to enhance the management and service capabilities of their core grassroots managerial position, the store manager, to adapt to market changes and meet parental expectations, thereby maintaining a leading market position. This study aims to construct a comprehensive competency model for store managers of R Chain ECE Institutions to effectively address the increasingly fierce market competition and changes in educational needs. This research, through literature review and market analysis, establishes the theoretical foundation and research premises for the competency model of ECE institution store managers. We analyzed the key responsibilities of store managers, including education quality management, team leadership, parental communication, marketing, and financial management. Simultaneously, we clarified the core competencies required for successful store managers, such as leadership, communication skills, professional knowledge, and emotional management. Using the behavioral event interview method, we collected in-depth information about the actual work situations and personal experiences of store managers at R Chain ECE Institutions. This method helped us understand the behavioral responses and strategies of store managers when facing different work challenges, thereby identifying key factors affecting their competencies. After comprehensive analysis of the collected data, we employed the Delphi method and other research techniques to construct and optimize the structure and content of the competency model. Ultimately, we developed a comprehensive competency model that includes multiple key dimensions, such as leadership and motivation, communication and expression, professional knowledge and skills, emotional and interpersonal management, goal achievement, and adaptability. The establishment of this competency model aims to provide R Chain ECE Institutions with scientific and systematic guidance for human resource management (including selection, training and development, and performance evaluation) and to offer solid support for the career planning and promotion of store managers. This, in turn, promotes the overall improvement of service quality and management efficiency in early childhood education institutions |
