The paper studies Virginia Woolf ’ s work ORLANDO to reveal her literature view and theory of the gender. The open work theory by Umberto Eco has an effect on my opinion, so I want to get rid of the fetters of feminism. This paper studies the novel ORLANDO, analyses the intention of writing and the characters, compares Woolf and feminist. At last, combining the novel ORLANDO and Woolf ’s literature theory ,this paper tries to find out Woolf ’ s considerations about literature, human and human nature. This paper includes the following: 1.The first part introduces the content of the open work theory; 2.The process of writing ORLANDO is the balances between imagination and reality, it is not for propagating some theory; 3.Woolf is from the ultra-gender perspective. There is difference between Woolf’s standpoint and feminism.4. In novels and critical theory, Woolf has demonstrated the recognition and pursuit of the spiritual world; 5.The idea of Woolf is propitious to the development of contemporary literature.
