十月革命后，苏俄内政外交动荡复杂，消息传播受阻，中国人对苏俄的认知模糊多变。《星期评论》作为五四运动后期宣传新文化、评论时事的重要刊物，始终关注国际动态，形成具有阶段性的苏俄观。刊物出版早期视“俄国革命”为专制下的“俄乱”恶果；出版中期，刊物同人深入研究苏俄问题，态度渐趋“友俄”；出版后期，同人因“苏俄第一次对华宣言”在华传播而明确转向“友俄”乃至“师俄”。《星期评论》苏俄观的转变，既受苏俄国内局势、各国对俄政策、中国领土主权利益等政治外交因素影响，也为杂志同人对社会主义、世界主义等思潮的理解所左右。苏俄观的变迁过程，亦反映《星期评论》提倡深入研究、言论日益左倾。该刊逐渐成为左派知识分子的阵地，推动近代中国走上“以俄为师”的现代化道路。

After the October Revolution, the internal and diplomatic affairs of the Soviet Union were turbulent and complicated. In addition of the blocked information’s dissemination, the Chinese people’s cognition of the Soviet Russia was vague and changeable. As an important publication to propagate new culture and comment on current affairs in the late period of the May 4th Movement, the Weekly Review always paid close attention to international developments and formed a periodical view on Soviet Russia. In the early stage of publication, the “Russian Revolution” was regarded as a terrible result of autocracy. In the middle period of publication, the journal’s authors studied the Soviet Russia issue deeply, and their attitude tended to be friendly. At the later stage of publication, since the Soviet Russia's First Declaration to China was spread in China, authors were friendlier to Soviet Russia, even seemed Russia as a role model. The change of the Weekly Review’s opinion on Soviet Russia was not only influenced by the political and diplomatic factors such as the domestic situation of Soviet Russia, the policies of various countries towards Russia and in interests of China’s territorial sovereignty, but also influenced by authors’ understanding of socialism and cosmopolitanism. The opinions’ changing progress also reflected that the Weekly Review gradually advocated in-depth study and its political views became increasingly left-leaning. The journal gradually became the front of left-wing intellectuals and promoted modern China to embark on the road of modernization with Russia as the role model.
