这项研究旨在调查五种基本句型训练对于高三学生英语写作水平的影响。质性分析和对比分析皆为本次的研究方法。平均分、基本句型种类和数量的变化以及目标基本句型的错误使用都是统一用来评价学生写作能力的标准。来自北京丰台实验中学的30名高三学生参加了这项调查。他们每人必须提供两篇作文,一篇来自九月的月考考试,一篇来自十一月的月考考试。基于两组数据对比分析,结果显示出五种基本句型训练对于高三学生英语写作水平的总体影响并不突出。学生十一月份的平均分没有得到提高;基本句型使用的种类和数量变化很小,基本无法反映学生的进步;此外,学生写作中使用基本句型犯的错误数目与九月份基本相同。 虽然这些发现并不足够鼓舞人心,但若因此得出基本句型训练没有意义的结论也是不合理的。相反地,本研究为英语教师将基本句型训练更好地应用于他们的教学中提供了些许有价值的启示。此外,这项研究也充分反应了结构模式训练的一些缺点,即机械化训练在教学中被过分强调。
外文摘要:
This research aims to investigate the effects of five-basic-clause-type practice on seniors’ English writing proficiency in high school. Qualitative and comparison analysis are adopted as the research method. The average scores, the changes in both varieties and numbers of clause types, and the erroneous use of target clause type are the assessment criteria for students’ writing proficiency. Thirty seniors from Beijing Fengtai Experimental High School are involved in the study. Each of them submits two writings, one in September’s monthly examination and the other in November’s monthly examination. Based on the data analysis, the result reveals that, on the whole, the effects of five-basic-clause-type practice on seniors’ English writing proficiency in high school are not notable. To be specific, there is no obvious increase in students’ average score in November. The changes in both varieties and numbers of clause types are too tiny to indicate any progress. In addition, the number of the errors in students’ writing remains nearly the same as that in September. Although the findings are not inspirational, it is inappropriate to consequently infer that clause pattern practice is ineffective. On the contrary, this research offers some valuable implications for English teachers to better apply clause pattern practice to their daily teaching. Moreover, it reflects that structural pattern drills have its weaknesses due to the overemphasis of mechanical drill while teaching.
