近代以来,随着西学传入中国,中国传统学术逐渐向现代学术转型,在学术制度、学术观念等方面均发生了重大变化,如新的学科分类体系的形成、学术研究方法的变化等。在学术转型的影响下,大学成为实施国学教育的重要机构之一,并培养了适应时代发展潮流的新式国学人才。本文以燕京大学为个案,在学术转型的视野下分析燕京大学开展国学教育的原因、课程体系及其重要意义等问题。首先,随着近代学术的转型,自晚清以来思想界兴起的新旧学之争、中西学之争、传统与现代之争在新文化运动期间逐渐演化为一场影响深远的东西文化大论战。在文化保守主义者及新派人士“殊道同归”的推动下,国学再一次成为热学,整理国故运动兴起。同时,随着民族主义思潮的发展,中国兴起了非基督教运动与收回教育权运动。为了适应中国国情,培养中国社会所需要的人才,燕京大学积极向教育部申请立案,并日益重视国学教育的实施。其次,在实施国学教育的过程中,燕京大学以教会大学“中国化”思想、“中西一冶”的文化观、学术平等与学术自由思想等为理念指导。同时,燕大的招生考试制度、教师聘任与管理制度、学术奖励和资助制度等为国学教育的实施提供了制度支撑。第三,燕京大学主要通过专修科、本科和研究院三个层次的课程体系,对学生进行国学教育。一方面,燕京大学要求学生必修国文课程,并选修与专业相关的课程,自然科学类的学生还必须选修社会科学和人文科学的有关课程,从而对学生实施普及性的国学教育,有助于提高学生的国学素养和人文素质。另一方面,燕大通过国文、历史、哲学等学系对主修学生实施专业性的国学教育,培养从事国学教育与研究工作的专业性人才。同时,燕大通过校园环境等隐性课程的方式对学生进行陶冶性国学教育,让学生每时每刻能感受到国学的魅力。第四,随着近代学术研究的组织化和专门化,燕京大学成立了哈佛燕京学社、国学研究所、历史学会、国文学会等与国学相关的学术组织,独立出版或与其他机构合作出版《燕京学报》、《史学年报》、《哲学评论》等杂志,并发表学生的研究成果,提高他们开展学术研究的积极性,成为燕大除课堂之外的另一条培养国学人才的重要途径。第五,燕京大学注重开展国学教育,不仅可以促进燕京大学的“中国化”,而且在培养国学人才和促进中国学术转型等方面具有重要意义,对当代中国大学开展国学教育具有重要的借鉴意义。

With the dissemination of the western learning to China, Chinese traditional academy gradually transformed to modern academy in modem times. Academic ideas and system have made significant changes, such as a new subject classification system forming, and the change of academic research methods, etc. Under the influence of academic transformation, university became one of important implementation agencies for the Chinese studies education, and cultivated new classics talents. The dissertation analyzed the reason, curriculum system and great significance of the Chinese Studies Education of Yenching University in the perspective of academic transformation.Firstly, as the transformation of modern academy, the debates between traditional and modern culture emerged in late Qing Dynasty and evolved into a far-reaching east-west cultural controversies in the New Culture Movement. The Movement for Rearranging the National Heritage developed under the promotion of cultural conservatives and Neo-Culture Intellectuals. Meanwhile, with the development of nationalism thoughts, Heathenish Motion and Regaining Education Rights Movement emerged in China. In order to adapt to China's national conditions and cultivate talents needed by Chinese society, Yenching University performed well for the registration in the Ministry of Education, and paid more attention to the implementation of Chinese Studies education.Secondly, Yenching University believed in sinification of Christian Universities, the harmonization of Chinese and western culture, academic freedom and equality in the process of implementing the Chinese Studies Education. Meanwhile, the educational administrative system of Yenching University, such as enrollment test system, teacher appointment and management system, academic reward and funding system, provided the institutional support for the implementation of traditional culture education.Thirdly, Yenching University implemented the Chinese studies education mainly through three levels of curriculum system, including ZhuanXiuKe, undergraduate and postgraduate. On the one hand, Yenching University required students to learn Chinese course and take courses relative to their major, and natural science students must take some social science and humanities course, which could help students improve traditional literacy and humanistic quality. On the other hand, Yenching University implemented professional education through Chinese Department, History Department and Philosophy Department, and cultivated classical talents. Meanwhile, Yenching University made students feel the charm of Chinese culture through recessive courses.Fourthly, as the systematism and specialization of academic research, Yenching University established academic organizations such as the Harvard-Yenching Institute, Historical Society and Chinese society. In addition, students could publish papers in Yenching Gazette, Review of Philosophy and so on, and improve their enthusiasm in academic research, which become another important way to cultivate classical talents.Fifthly, Yenching University emphasized the Chinese studies education, which promoted the sinification of Yenching University, made great significance in cultivating talents and promoting Chinese academic transformation, and had great reference meanings for modern Chinese universities.
