课堂沉默在关于英语课堂的研究中是中占有一席之地；同时也是新手教师在刚站上讲台上所必须面临和攻克的难题之一。特别是在新课标改革的指引下，学生在课堂上占主导地位，怎么启发、鼓励学生在课堂上发言成了至关重要的问题。本文采用质性研究，旨在通过对新手教师和有经验的教师的课堂转录、摘选、编码、归类、分析，将其结果进行比较，从而对新手教师提出有建设性意义的意见。当消极课堂沉默发生时，新手教师应该寻求提高学生发言意愿的方法，同时打下夯实的教学技能基础也很重要。

Classroom reticence has always been a popular topic on the research of English class，which is an inevitable issue for the novice teachers as well. Especially under the reform of new English curriculum standards, with students’ taking a dominant role in class, it is essential for the teachers to encourage and inspire students to speak out in class. Through transcribing, picking up, coding, classifying, and analyzing the classes of the novice teacher and the experienced teacher, this qualitative research aims at giving constructive suggestions to the novice teachers. When confronting negative reticence, the novice teachers should find ways to promote students’ willingness to communicate. In the meantime, having a solid teaching technique is necessary.
