随着中国综合国力和国际地位不断提高，传播好中国文化变得重要且迫切。在信息时代，有趣的事物总是易于流行，这使得电影拥有大量观众，成为了一种高效的文化传播方式。2019年，中国动画玄幻电影《哪吒之魔童降世》成为了有史以来最成功的动画电影之一。影片基于中国传统故事，讲述了哪吒逆天改命的励志故事。虽然影片在国内非常受欢迎，在国外却鲜有人问津。本文认为，影片的字幕翻译没有准确译出《哪吒》中的中国玄幻元素，使外国观众难以理解。由于《哪吒》中存在许多中国的玄幻元素，不当的翻译可能引起误解。因此，分析影片中玄幻元素的字幕翻译非常重要。本文聚焦于《哪吒》中玄幻元素的字幕翻译，将对玄幻元素的翻译分类分析，例如玄幻场所，玄幻人物，玄幻法器和咒语。字幕在本质上与文本不同，因此还应考虑字幕翻译的特点和局限。本文试图比较玄幻术语在中英翻译中含义的改变，并寻求它们之间的文化含义上的相似点或者缩小差异之处。希望通过这项研究对影视翻译提出一些建议。

As the National power and international status of China are rising, it is urgent and significant to introduce Chinese culture to the world. Film is a very effective way for culture communication and has a large number of audiences since anything interesting and intriguing is very easily popularized in the digital time. Thus, film, animation or fantasy, or both, attracts even more audience from around the world. In 2019, Ne Zha, a Chinese animated fantasy film, becomes one of the most successful ones in the history of Chinese films. Based on a traditional Chinese story, the screenplay portrays Ne Zha, a boy who refuses to accept his doomed fate and finally changes his life by his efforts. However, while the film is very popular in China, its overseas market is relatively poor. This thesis believes that its subtitle translation is inaccessible and formidable to the foreign audiences for its inappropriate rendering of Chinese fantasy elements in Ne Zha. So, it is vital to analyse the subtitle translation of fantasy elements.

This thesis focuses on the subtitle translation of fantasy elements in Ne Zha by classifying and analysing the translation, such as fantasy places, fantasy characters, fantasy talismans and spells. Since subtitle is different in nature from text, features and limits of subtitle translation should also be taken into consideration. This thesis attempts to analyse the changes of the original meanings of fantasy terms from Chinese to English, and seeks to find out the cultural similarities or to bridge over gaps between them. It is hoped that this study can attribute some suggestions to film subtitle translation.
