The phenomenon of "underage" tattoos has increasingly become a social risk point that damages the physical and mental health of adolescents and infringes on their legitimate rights and interests, and tattoos on adolescents have negative consequences such as being easily infected, difficult to recover, restricted in employment and schooling, and easily labelled. In June 2022, the Office of the State Council Leading Group for the Protection of Minors issued the Measures for the Treatment of Adolescents ' Tattoos, which put forward a series of measures to strengthen the treatment of adolescents' tattoos and explicitly prohibited the provision of tattoo services to adolescents, thus bringing the treatment of adolescents' tattoos into the political and legal system in China. In the face of this policy precedent, academic research on tattooing of adolescents in China has been limited and has mostly focused on the superficial aspects of tattooing, lacking close contact, observation and communication with the subject of the study, which has inevitably led to the simple attribution of "stereotypes" to underage tattooing. Therefore, this study seeks to fill these gaps and provide a research basis for academics, an empirical guideline for policy improvement, and research materials and practical considerations for social work professional services.

Based on the perspective of adolescent subculture theory and embodiment theory, this study adopts the narrative orientation of case study, takes "young people with tattoo experience in their infancy" as the research object, and relies on the observation of tattoo studios and other field scenes, as well as the analysis of six collective cases and qualitative materials of in-depth interviews with respondents, combined with the collection and analysis of tattoo pictures and physical materials. This paper studies the experience of tattoo in adolescence and the "diachronic connection" influence of tattoo in China's local context, excavates the potential demand under the appearance of tattoo behavior in adolescence, and explores how body expression and meaning interpretation are embodied in this process, so as to construct what kind of localized tattoo practice action logic.

The study found that the motivation and practice of tattooing during adolescence together constitute the logic of action in the practice of tattooing during adolescence, and reveal the dilemma and reconstruction process of the subjectivity of adolescent tattooers. In the process of tattooing as a adolescent, the motives and motivations for tattooing as a adolescent are to record growth, communicate and display, and to express emotions. In the process of tattooing, the externalisation of the body reacts to the inner self-consciousness, forming a body practice with a sense of physical and mental integration, in which the 'experience of pain' is linked to the 'presence of the body', thus gaining a sense of control over the body, giving vent to repressed emotions and relating to individual experiences. In this way, they gain a sense of control over their bodies, give vent to their repressed emotions and engage in a dialogue with their individual experiences, confirming and reconstructing their sense of being and subjectivity as adolescents. The effects of tattooing during adolescence are characterized by 'resistance to embodiment' and 'reconstitution of subjectivity', which have the effect of improving the system of self-identity and reshaping self-worth, while at the same time impeding the individual's capacity for self-determination and limiting personal development. Based on the findings of this study, this paper suggests that it is imperative to "regulate tattooing of adolescents", and that "strengthening control at the source" is the key, and should be explored in terms of legislation, industry governance and responsibility for protection.
