由于朝鲜核化和美韩在朝鲜半岛的联合军演,朝鲜半岛紧张局势在过去十年愈演愈烈。但是,目前对于隐藏在朝鲜核化新闻语篇中的意识形态的研究尚有不足。因此,本研究目的在于通过批评性话语分析的方法,对比分析2017年《中国日报》和《纽约时报》中关于朝鲜核化的新闻语篇以揭示两家主流媒体所暗含的国家意识形态。本研究以及物性、情态、主述位结构、转述方式和新闻来源为具体分析维度,旨在发现《中国日报》和《纽约时报》如何通过采取特定语言策略以构建政府针对朝鲜核化的政治主张。通过描述语料文本和解释话语实践,本研究所发现的语言策略包括对及物性过程的选择、情态助动词的使用以及对主位、转述方式和新闻来源的选取策略。通过对比分析两家媒体在各自关于朝鲜核化新闻语篇中所采取的语言策略,本研究揭示了暗含在《中国日报》和《纽约时报》中的国家意识形态:《中国日报》倡导以和平谈判的方式缓解朝鲜半岛紧张局势,而《纽约时报》则希望读者支持美国政府的对朝政策,同时号召人民实现美国全球化。本研究结果为新闻语篇的批判性阅读和教学方法提供一定启示,即关注对语篇话语实践和社会实践的解释以提升全民的批判语言意识。

During the last ten years, tensions on the Korean peninsula have increased dramatically due to North Korea’s nuclearization and joint military manoeuvres between the United States and South Korea. However, very little research has been carried out to determine hidden ideologies in news reports on North Korea’s nuclear program. The aim of this study is therefore to reveal ideologies implicated in China Daily and The New York Times by making a comparison between the two newspapers through a CDA approach to news reports on North Korea’s nuclear program in 2017. Specifically, the analysis is done in terms of transitivity, modality, Theme-Rheme structure, reporting modes and news sources. The aim is to find out how China Daily and The New York Times employ specific discursive strategies to construct their political stances on North Korea’s nuclearization. Through Description of sample news reports and Interpretation of discursive practice, the discursive strategies discovered include the choice of transitivity process, modal auxiliaries, Theme, reporting modes and news sources. Based on the similarities and differences in discursive strategies, the study in Explanation of social practice reveals the distinctive ideologies hidden in the two newspapers: China Daily expects its readers to consider peaceful negotiations to ease tensions on the Korean peninsula, while The New York Times hopes that readers support American government’s decision on the issue and approve the U. S’s global ambition even if there might be wars breaking out. Results of the thesis suggest that the critical thinking and teaching of news discourse by focusing on the interpretation of discursive practice and the explanation of social practice can raise critical language awareness.
