本文以《阿特金斯饮食法与哲学》第一章节的英译汉翻译实践报告为例，以乔治·斯坦纳 1975 年提出的翻译四步骤信任、侵入、吸收和补偿作为指导。翻译中的主要难点可以分为三类：文化信息补偿、斜体字处理以及语言风格还原。本文使用归纳总结的方法描述了译文中各问题以及采取的翻译策略和方法，并重点讨论了其中具有代表性的译例。

斜体字的翻译可通过改变字体和调整语序两种方式处理，译文符合中文印刷字体规范，表强调的斜体字也能达到和原文相同的功能；在处理包含物质、社会、宗教和语言文化四类文化信息的翻译时，可通过增加文内注释和文外脚注的方式补充背景信息，弥补由文化差异和源语言本身特点造成的意义缺失；在还原文本语言风格时，可通过直译保留原文意象和美感，也可使用意译的翻译方法，在目的语中寻找意义相似或相同的表达代替原文，给目的语读者带来相同的阅读体验和情感效果。本文从斯坦纳阐释学四步骤研究文化类作品的汉译，以期对今后同类型作品的翻译提供参考和借鉴。

This paper takes the report on English to Chinese translation of The Atkins Diet and Philosophy as an example and takes the four steps of hermeneutic motion proposed by George Steiner: trust, aggression, incorporation and restitution. To tackle the difficulties in translation, this paper divides them into three categories: cultural information, italicization, and text style. An inductive approach is used to shed light on the problems in the translations and the strategies adopted, examining representative examples with detail.

The font of italicized text can be changed in accordance with Chinese typography practices and word order can be rearranged for translation. Some italics for emphasis can also achieve a similar effect. When dealing with translations containing cultural information including material culture, social culture, religious culture and linguistic culture, footnotes and in-text notes can be used to supplement the meaning that is lost due to cultural differences and the characteristics of the source language itself. When restoring the text style, the translator can retain the original imagery and beauty of the text through direct translation. This ensures the preservation of the image and beauty of the original text. The strategy of domestication can also be used to find similar or identical expressions in the target language, so as to bring the same reading experience and emotional effect to the target language readers. This paper explores the translation of cultural works from Steiner's hermeneutic motion, which will provide a point of reference for future translations of similar works.
