From the perspective of embodied cognition, the current research explores the impact of taste on time-distance perception, and then explores the impact of taste on the progress bars loading. In this study, we explore the question from 4 experiments. Experiments 1 explored the effects of direct taste stimulation (taste channel) on time interval estimation. Experiments 2 explored how indirect taste picture stimulation (visual channel) affected time-distance estimation. The results showed that taste stimulus (direct and indirect) had a significant effect on time-distance estimation. Sweet stimulus condition could make time-distance estimation faster, bitter stimulus condition could make time-distance estimation longer, sour stimulus and salty stimulus condition tended to make time-distance estimation longer. Different taste stimuli have different effects in different periods. Experiments 3 explored the effects of direct taste stimulation (taste channel) on the loading of long-term (18s) and short-term (6s) progress bars. Experiments 4 explored the effects of indirect taste picture stimulation (taste channel) on the loading of long-term (18s) and short-term (6s) progress bars. The results showed that both sweet and bitter taste stimuli had significant effects on time-distance estimation under short-term (6s) and long-term (18s) conditions, but had no effect on time-distance estimation. In summary, we could get the conclusions: (1) Taste stimulation can arouse emotional responses, sweet stimulation is closely related to positive emotions; sour and salty stimulation reduces positive emotions; bitter stimulation is closely related to negative emotions. (2) The significant effect of taste stimulus on the deviation of time interval estimation makes the deviation bigger. Sweet factors significantly increased the deviation of time-distance estimation under direct taste stimulation, while bitter factors significantly increased the deviation of time-distance estimation under indirect taste stimulation. (3) Taste stimulus significantly affects the estimation of time interval, and sweet stimulus significantly underestimates the estimation of time interval compared with tasteless condition; sour and salty stimulus greatly overestimates the estimation of time interval; bitter stimulus maximizes the estimation of time interval. (4) Different time intervals have different bias effects. Under short-term condition, the estimation of time-distance becomes larger gradually. In the comparison of short-time and long-time, the deviation of time-distance estimation is smaller in short-time condition, and larger in long-time condition. (5) Direct taste stimulation is more accurate than indirect taste picture stimulation in estimating time interval. (6) Sweetness has a significant effect on short-term progress bar loading under direct taste stimulation and bitterness has a significant effect on short-term progress bar loading under indirect taste stimulation. But this effect is not obvious in a long time.
