元代是中国道教史籍发展的重要时期，体裁各异的道教史籍在此期出现。元代道教史籍上承魏晋、隋唐道教史籍的优良传统，下启明清道教史籍的撰述，是研究中国道教史籍编纂史、中国道教史乃至中国古代史的重要资源。金元之际的社会环境和金元帝国崇道政策是元代道教史籍发展的外部因素，道派的分衍与创新和元代道教传播范围的拓展是元代道教史籍发展的内在因素。元代道教史籍有教内教外不同的编纂群体、官修和私修等不同的编纂途径，经历了刊刻《大元玄都宝藏》的盛事和禁毁的厄运。本文考察了元代道教史籍的编纂、刊刻、损毁、传播等诸多问题。元代道教史籍体裁较为丰富，主要有谱录、仙传、山志、碑传集、游记、目录等几种。在处理材料的来源与详略、内容结构的安排、语言的风格等问题时，元代道教史籍借鉴世俗史学的优良传统，形成自己的编纂特色。元代道教史籍记载了历世传说仙真和著名道教人物的事迹，记述了许多教内重要事件及有关活动，也反映出古代尤其是金元政治、经济、民间信仰等问题，从而为人们更好地认识道教与社会发展史的关系，提供了新资料。元代道教史籍有丰富的思想价值。其中有道教立足于自身，吸收儒家、佛教思想精华而形成的三教圆融思想；回归老庄、摒弃传统道教流弊、融摄禅道内丹、心性学说而产生的修道成仙理论；重视建观度人、面向民众的传播理念，等等。元代道教史籍所反映的平等思想、向善思想、重生思想也值得重视。元代道教史籍在中国道教史籍中占有举足轻重的地位，对道教史的研究起着不可替代的作用，在古代史和传统文化的研究中也具有重要意义。当然，元代道教史籍在体裁体例和内容方面也存在着明显的不足之处，研究使用时应充分注意。
