This paper uses Nietzsche’s philosophy of superman, especially the three metamorphoses of spirit, to analyze the transformation of Buck. The introduction gives an overview of London’s life, the research text and previous research at home and abroad. The body briefly describes the characteristics of Nietzsche's three spiritual levels, the influence of superman philosophy on London's thought and analyses the birth process of superman embodied by Buck, based on the text. The conclusion summarizes the whole article, pointing out that under the influence of talent and hard external environment, Buck completes the transformation from a camel to a lion and finally stays somewhere between a lion and a child. There are some similarities as well as differences between Buck and Nietzsche’s superman. They both surpass themselves and learn from the outside. The differences are that the superman isolates himself from others and the environment has an equal impact on the superman and others.
