另一方面，基于适用物类的数量和权重地位，可以衡量词义的专指度和兼容度，进一步更细致地将上古谓词的广义度划分成四个等级。立足物类分布关系和等级比较，才能更深入地挖掘广义度研究的价值。

第四章探讨了广义度在词义训释研究中的价值。首先适用物类的分布关系会影响训释词和被释词之间的组配能力；其次广义度等级会影响训释词的解释能力；最后广义度等级还会影响训释方式，由此能窥探一些特殊训释方式以及义界形成的深层动因。

第五章探讨了广义度在词义派生研究中的价值，主要从义位派生和词义分化两个层面展开。首先适用物类的变化和义位派生之间是相随相伴的关系，基于认知转喻机制，适用物类“专指”常引发义位派生，派生义表示专指的对象；基于认知隐喻机制，义位派生往往伴随着适用物类的“跨类”，其中具体/抽象的“跨类”、有生/无生的“跨类”比较显著。其次广义度等级会影响词义的分化能力和分化模式，从而深入探究词义的分化机制。

第六章探讨了广义度在构词研究中的价值，主要从构词能力、构词规律和双音化机制三个层面展开。本文提取的谓词以语素的身份参与构词。首先统计语素在上古汉语和现代汉语的构词数量，从共时和古今对比两个层面论证广义度等级对构词能力的影响。其次从适用物类的分布关系入手，探究广义度对构词规律的影响，适用物类分布相容是两个语素结合的必要前提，根据相容程度，两个语素结合时存在优选原则。最后重点围绕“添加广义语素”这一双音化方式，阐述了广义度等级在双音化机制中发挥的价值。

本文的创新点主要体现在两个方面：一是聚焦词义的适用范围问题，借鉴学界相关成果，基于物类视角，建立了“广义度”测查和描写的框架，并探索“广义度”等级划分的标准；二是深入探讨了“广义度”这一词义的语用属性对词义的解释能力和生成能力的影响，前者主要体现在训释层面，后者主要体现在词义派生和构词层面。通过研究，印证了传统训释材料的词汇语义学价值，突出了广义度分析在词义研究中的方法论价值，彰显了广义度不同等级的词在词汇语义系统中的不同地位。

Theoretical cholium presented the question about “Semantic Span”, which has two different situations on the “glosseme” unit: One refers to the span of different categories of objects in collocation，the other refers to the span of one category generally instead of individual object in collocation. Referred as “semantic inclusiveness”, the latter span is absolute, while the former span is relative, we use “Semantic Span”to make a distinguishment. “Semantic Span” is important to synonym and hyponymy. It not only helps to analyze the meaning of words, but also helps to further excavate the value of different words in the lexical semantic system. The full text includes the following sections:

The introduction part discusses the selected topic basis, research status, research objectives and research significance.

The first chapter introduces the basic research work, including the basis, methods and results of material extraction. The comparison of “Semantic Span” should be carried out between synonyms and hyponymys, so it is necessary to extract the predicate group of ancient Chinese. First of all, based on the characteristics of Shuowen, this chapter explains the basis of material selection, the decision of the ancient Chinese predicate, and the method of “ lexical exegesis links”. Then, the basic situations of ancient Chinese predicate group are presented.

The second chapter expounds the concept and the measurement method of “Semantic Span”. “Semantic Span” refers to the scope of objects that a word can apply in the context on the unit of glosseme.It can be analyzed and described through a wide range of context surveys. During the process, the perspective of object is emphasized, and the classification framework of objects is constructed. On this basis, the specific measurement methods of “Semantic Span” of verbs and adjectives are  respectively discussed.

The third chapter selects typical cases to present the description and comparison results of “Semantic Span”. On the one hand, the comparison of the distribution of applicable objects can be carried out according to logical relations of opposition, intersection, identity and inclusion. On the other hand, based on the number and weight status of applicable categories, we can further divide the “Semantic Span” of ancient predicates into four levels.

The fourth chapter discusses the value of “Semantic Span” in lexical exegetics. First of all, the distribution of objects will affect whether the exegetics can be established. Secondly, the level of “Semantic Span” will affect the qualification and frequency of explanatory words. Finally, the level of “Semantic Span” will also affect the interpretation methods, which can explain the formation and deep motivation of some special exegetic methods.

The fifth chapter discusses the value of “Semantic Span” in the study of semantic derivation. Firstly, the “special indication” of objects often triggers the derivation of sememe. Sememe derivation is also often accompanied by “cross-category” of applicable objects. Crosses of concrete or abstract category and living or non-living category are very prominent. Secondly, “Semantic Span” level will affect the ability and mode of differentiation of meanings.

The sixth chapter discusses the value of “Semantic Span” in word-formation research. Firstly, comparing the word-formation ability between ancient Chinese and modern Chinese, this chapter generalizes the relationship between “Semantic Span” level and word-formation ability. Secondly, from the perspective of the distribution of applicable categories, the influence of “Semantic Span” on word formation law is explored.Finally, focusing on “adding wide span morpheme”, this paper expounds the value of “Semantic Span” level in the dual-tone mechanism.

The innovation of this paper is mainly reflected in two aspects. Firstly, it focuses on the scope of word meaning and establishes a framework for the measurement and description of “Semantic Span” from the perspective of category. Secondly, it explores the influence of  “Semantic Span” on explanatory ability and generative ability of the meaning. Through research, it confirms the semantic value of traditional explanatory materials, highlights the methodological value of “Semantic Span” analysis, and highlights the different positions of words based on different levels of “Semantic Span”  in lexical semantic system.
