Through the systematic compilation of archaeological materials with witchcraft nature in Han Dynasty tombs in the past two decades, it can be found that there are mainly three types of materials that are the most important, namely, archaeological materials in the category of tombsuppressing texts, brief documents and daily books, and tombsuppressing animals. A systematic analysis of these materials reveals that the Han view of life and death was closely linked to the fear of ghosts and demons, and that the emphasis on the different paths of life and death was based on the Han fear of ghosts and demons. The Han people's social beliefs were in fact more mixed and complex. At the time of the transition between the Western and Eastern Han dynasties, the Han people's imagination and expectations of the underground world may have been nurtured by early Daoist ideas, and in the early Eastern Han dynasty, this social belief system, which was nurtured by early Daoist ideas, was influenced by Buddhism, thus presenting a mixed state of interpretation and Daoism. At the same time, in their daily lives, the Han people relied heavily on the daily books to guide their activities for each day, and even for each time of day. |
