地名不仅是一种实用符号，更是一种文化现象。通过分析厦门地名的方言留存、命名规律和方式，深入挖掘地名背后的文化内涵，可以了解厦门方言的区域特点，挖掘厦门的历史文化特征。
本文以厦门政府编纂的地名志资料为主要语料来源，采用文献考证、归纳分类和统计的方法，对福建省厦门市6个市辖区共3531个地名进行收集分析，挖掘其背后的语音、词汇特征和文化内涵。
语音方面，厦门地名的方言读音保留了古老的白读音特征，其根据方言进行的谐音变化有雅化避讳、删繁就简、归属改称等五种形式，体现出地名的审美性、功能性双重属性。词汇方面，本文整理厦门地名的通名类型，对部分具有地域和方言特色的通名和专名进行了讨论，并统计探究了厦门地名通名的叠床架屋现象。
文化内涵方面，厦门的地名能较为准确地与客观地理环境相对应，反映了当地的物质文化、历史文化和精神文化，具体又可从地势水文、物产资源、经济活动、政治文化、宗族观念等九个角度进行说明。
最后，本文基于研究结果，对厦门地名的规范化管理与地名资源的开发利用提出了具有针对性的建议。

Place names are not only a practical symbol, but also a cultural phenomenon. By analyzing the dialect retention, naming rules and ways of Xiamen place names, and digging into the cultural connotation behind the place names, we can understand the regional characteristics of Xiamen dialect and excavate the historical and cultural characteristics of Xiamen.
Based on the toponymy data compiled by the Xiamen government, this thesis analyzes 3531 toponymy data collected from six cities in Xiamen, Fujian province, using the methods of textual research, inductive classification and statistics, to explore the phonetic, lexical features and cultural connotations behind it.
In phonetic aspect, the dialect pronunciation of Xiamen place names retains the features of the ancient white pronunciation, and its homophonic change according to the dialect has five forms, such as elegant change to avoid, deleting the complex to simplify, belonging to change the name, etc. It reflects the double attributes of aesthetics and function of place names. In terms of vocabulary, this thesis collates the types of general names of Xiamen Place Names, discusses some general names and proper names with regional and dialect characteristics, and makes a statistical study of the phenomenon of overlapping bed-frames in general names of Xiamen place names.
In terms of cultural connotation, the place names of Xiamen can correspond to the objective geographical environment accurately, reflecting the local material culture, historical culture and spiritual culture, it can be explained from nine angles such as topography, hydrology, material resources, economic activities, political culture and clan concept.
Finally, based on the research results, this thesis puts forward some pertinent suggestions on the standardized management of place names and the development and utilization of place names resources in Xiamen.
