贪婪作为一种人格特质被大众熟知,在心理学领域,2015年Seuntjens等学者对贪婪进行了原型分析,给出了贪婪的定义是总是渴望得到更多,并且永不满足(T. G. Seuntjens, Zeelenberg, Breugelmans, & van de Ven, 2015)。贪婪给社会及个人造成的不良影响过多,让人不禁思考,如何能够减弱人的贪婪?但目前关于影响贪婪的心理机制的相关实证研究较少。而敬畏感作为一种古老的情绪,能够在某种程度上约束人的行为。2003年,心理学家Keltner和Haidt对敬畏感进行了原型分析,从心理学的视角看待和审视了敬畏感,并引发了大量学者对敬畏感进行研究,但总体仍处于发展阶段,尤其是国内对于敬畏感的实证研究相对缺乏,那么敬畏感作为一种情感上的反应,能否对贪婪产生一定影响呢?
敬畏感影响贪婪的心理机制可能是由于敬畏感引发的小自我让人的自我尺寸变小,把注意力从自身转移到了周围、忽略了日常琐事,从而与周围产生连接感,进而忽略对自身利益的关注,更加关注他人、集体的利益从而减弱贪婪。基于此,本文通过两个研究探索敬畏感对贪婪的影响及其心理机制。
研究1基于青少年样本与成人样本进行问卷研究,使用测量模型探究了特质敬畏感与贪婪的关系,在成人样本中还研究了小自我的中介作用。研究2进行了实验室研究,用视频材料诱发敬畏感,使用行为指标测量贪婪,探究敬畏感与贪婪之间的关系,验证敬畏感对贪婪的影响及小自我的中介机制。全文研究得到以下结论:
1.敬畏感在一定程度上可以抑制贪婪。研究1a中敬畏感和贪婪显著负相关;在研究1b、研究2中,敬畏感和贪婪尽管相关不显著,但是方向都为负。
2.敬畏感可以稳定的促使自我变小,在研究1b、研究2中都得到了支持。
3.小自我在一定程度上可以促进贪婪,这一点在研究1b中得到了支持,在研究2中,尽管相关不显著,但方向都为正。
4.小自我在敬畏感和贪婪之间的中介作用,在研究1b中得到了支持,不过直接效应和间接效应方向相反,即敬畏感可以抑制贪婪,但是小自我会促进贪婪。

As a personality trait, greed is well known to the public. In the field of psychology, in 2015, Seuntjens and other scholars made a prototype analysis of greed and gave the definition of greed as always wanting more and never being satisfied (Seuntjens, Zeelenberg, Breugelmans, & van de Ven, 2015). Greed has so many negative social and personal effects that it makes one wonder how it can be reduced. However, there are few empirical studies on the mechanism of greed. As an ancient emotion, awe can restrain people's behavior to some extent. In 2003, psychologists Keltner and Haidt conducted a prototype analysis of awe, viewing and examining awe from the perspective of psychology, and triggered a large number of scholars to study awe. However, there is a relative lack of empirical research on awe in China. So, as an emotional response, can awe exert some influence on greed?
The psychological mechanism that awe affects greed may be due to the small self induced by awe, which reduces the size of the self, turns the attention from oneself to the surroundings, ignores the daily trivialities, and generates a sense of connection with the surroundings, thus ignoring the attention to self-interests and paying more attention to the interests of others and the collective, thus weakening greed. This study explored the influence of awe on greed and its psychological mechanism through three studies.
Study 1 based on adolescent samples and adult samples for questionnaire research, using the measurement model to explore the relationship between trait awe and greed, and also studied the mediating role of small self in adult samples. Study 2 conducted laboratory research, using video materials to induce awe, using behavioral indicators to measure greed, exploring the relationship between awe and greed, verifying the impact of awe on greed and the intermediary mechanism of small self. The full text study has the following conclusions:
1. Awe can suppress greed to a certain extent. In study 1a, there is a significant negative correlation between awe and greed; in study 1b and 2, awe and greed are not significant, but the direction is negative.
2. Awe can be stable and promote self-smallness. Both of them are supported in study 1 and 2.
3. The small self can promote greed to a certain extent. This is supported in the study 1b. In the second study, although the correlation is not significant, the direction is positive.
4. The mediating role of the small self in awe and greed is supported in the study 1b, but the direct effect and the indirect effect are opposite, that is, awe can suppress greed, but the small self will promote greed.
