本文对二程著作中大量的论颜子之语特加重视,研究了二程对颜子形象的诠释与建构。通过对颜子境界的领悟和体会,对颜子工夫的把握和阐发,对颜子在道统传承中地位和作用的确认,二程建立了一个体系完整的颜子学理论。虽然留存的事迹并不十分丰富,但颜子作为孔门弟子中践行圣人教诲并有所成就的典范,成为被后世称颂不已的理想人格的化身。受时代风潮和个人受学经历的影响,二程在他们哲思历程的起始处便与颜子相遇。对周敦颐孔颜乐处提问和学颜子之所学倡导的回应,是他们哲学体系建构的源点和基础。二程颜子学理论由三部分构成:境界论、工夫论和道统论。观颜子气象,品颜子境界,是颜子学第一要事;工夫论与境界论密切相关,是对境界论的深化和拓展;道统论是颜子学的基础和归宿。就明道言,其颜子学以境界论为主体,辅之以境界指向的工夫论,特重对颜子学行与品格之赞美与欣赏,凸显颜子之德性成就,拉近大贤颜子与圣人孔子之距离,要人学颜子以至圣人。就伊川言,其颜子学以工夫论为核心,辅之以工夫指向的境界论,对颜子亦尽推崇,然更欣赏圣人孔子之天地气象,故其论颜子之境界,重在凸显圣贤之差距,强调颜子之未得,于工夫论上主张以性导情,并以四箴充实之。虽有如此不同,但他们的根本追求,都合于周子“圣希天,贤希圣,士希贤”之范式,欲借颜子之力,上契圣人孔子之神圣化境,以使千四百年不明之圣学灿然复明,故道统论实为二程颜子学之最终归宿。二程是儒家道统论的真正奠基人,他们对道统传承模式的细致梳理厘清了道统传承理论中的很多模糊之处,在此基础上凸显了颜子在道统传承中不可替代的重大作用和意义。二程对颜子形象的诠释和建构是基于真实体会的生命共鸣和相会,标志着宋明新儒学在这一领域所能到达的最高高度,体现了他们对儒家根本精神的真情实感,堪称千古之绝唱。

ChengHao and ChengYi, two famous philosophers in Song dynasty, said a lot about the view of the sage YanZi, and this article studied their interpretation and construction of YanZi’s image. When they had expressed their views on YanZi’s position among all sages,demonstrated YanZi’s special stature, and pointed out that experiencing YanZi’s special stature had great significance for Confucian Cultivation Theory,they completed their YanZi Theory .YanZi was the most important student of Confucius. As a model of self-cultivation, he was worshiped by a lot of people later. ChengHao and ChengYi had focused on YanZi since their early time, when thy met ZhouDunyi, an older famous philosopher. ZhouDunyi advocated learning from YanZi and considering why YanZi was always very happy even he was really poor.YanZi Theory consists of three parts, Jingjie Theory, Gongfu Theory and Daotong Theory. Jingjie Theory is the most important part, Gongfu Theory is a critical extension, Daotong Theory is the foundation and end-result. ChengHao admired YanZi’s accomplishments and believed that if a person wanted to be a sage, he had to learn from YanZi. But ChengYi paid more attention to YanZi’s shortcomings, he required people to comply with some specific requirements. Of course, they all respected YanZi, explained his significance for continuation of traditional in history.ChengHao and ChengYi made a tremendous contribution to Confucian Sages Hermeneutics, because their YanZi Theory was excellent and unique.
