自建国以来人教版篮球教材已出版7套，从1961年版《小学体育教材》、《中学体育教材》发展为 2000版《小学体育与健康》教材、《初中体育与健康教材》、《高中体育与健康》教材。回顾建国以来人教版体育教材建设的历史发展，中小学体育教材的内容受时代社会发展、教育理念更迭、科学技术进步等因素的影响，教材内容的结构体系也为了适应更为科学、合理的教学课程理念而不断发展。本研究在结合前人研究成果的基础上，根据我国基础教育教材改革与发展的基本情况，将建国以来中小学篮球教材的发展分为四个历史阶段：产生与摸索阶段（1961-1965年）、停止与破坏阶段（1966-1976年）、恢复与发展阶段（1977-1995年）、探索与深化阶段（1996年-至今）。 通过篮球教材结构体系和篮球教材改革思想两方面对中小学篮球教材的发展脉络进行梳理和研究，其中篮球教材结构体系的变化和发展情况主要从教材表层结构向教材深层结构进行研究，研究内容按层次的先后顺序是教材表现形式、教材内容结构、教材内容广度和教材内容排列体系，研究结果表明：篮球教材的表现形式朝着多样化、全面化的方向变化和发展；教材内容结构的组成在不断丰富和完善；教材内容的广度呈现逐渐变大、知识面变广的趋势；教材内容的排列体系既不属于直线式排列体系，又有别于螺旋式排列体系，但在教材内容的排列过程中又包含了直线排列体系和螺旋式排列体系的元素。在中小学篮球教材改革思想的变化与发展方面，主要有教材改革思想由“一纲一本”向“一纲多本”的转变，由强调“三基”向凸显“健康第一”的转变。针对中小学篮球教材建设中出现的若干问题，提出教材的发展趋势：注重教材配套全面化、教材形式多样化、教材内容国际化；重视中小学篮球教材中的教学评价体系的建设；构建“渐变双螺旋”式中小学篮球教材内容排列体系；中小学篮球教材编写注重“六个维度”的综合考虑。
