英国新古典主义大师约翰·威廉·格维得,对于新古典主义的继承与发扬,有着不可磨灭的重要贡献。作为拉斐尔前派的追随者,其对于色彩色调和画面情绪的掌控上也别具一格,以擅长画西方新古典主义风格的“仕女画”而闻名,善于展现宫廷女性的生活状态。柔韧舒展的女性人体是其绘画中表现力强的因素之一,也是其明显的个人风格。本文将重点从多方面研究其表现画面的技法。

文章的第一部分梳理了格维得所处时代的变迁及其本人的师从经历。格维得所处年代是一个变化节奏很快的时期,前半生是新古典主义的流行,影响着格维得选择的流派,后半生画坛出现了立体主义,现代主义的流行也直接导致了其事业发展的急剧转折。为了更好的理解格维得是如何选择走上新古典主义和拉斐尔前派的绘画风格道路,笔者也将其师从经历和他本人之后的传承与发扬做了的比较,分析格维得是如何形成自己稳定而成熟的画风,主要以其创作鼎盛时期的绘画作品作为分析比较的案例。

第二部分对格维得画作风格和形式因素展开分析,主要研究其仕女画创作中的“仕女”因素,包括女性角色的外貌整体选择、对女人体的独特刻画处理以及为表现女性高贵气质与身份所描绘物品的隐喻。围绕画中的“仕女”形象,探讨格维得的创作特征和独特表现手法。

文章的第三部分从创作构思的方法与角度上去理解格维得画面中的构图、色彩以及人与物之间的关系构成。格维得在造型方面深思熟虑,对于不同的画面主题采取了不同的构图表达,处理构图和轮廓的态度十分严谨,体现出很高的要求。更具不同主题、不同情绪的画面要求,通过不同的色彩处理方式,让人物与周围环境物的关系产生呼应。这一部分研究了格维得对创作各环节的调度能力。

最后一章结合笔者的创作,介绍格维得绘画风格对于笔者的启示与引导,同时阐述自己对于创作的理解与构思,在汲取不同画法特点以及现代因素之后,二者是如何融入笔者创作的。

通过研究,进一步探讨格维得仕女画古典的构图、扎实的基础、稳健的色调和高超的技法,分析其笔下女性形象慵懒、高贵、多愁善感的艺术形象特征。格维得在处理户外自然空间与人物关系、大理石墙面地面质感刻画,盛开的植物、悦目的服装色彩搭配等方面细节表现的手法,展现了其独特的绘画风貌。

As a great master of British neoclassicism, John William Godward has made an indelible contribution to the inheritance and development of neoclassicism. As a member of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, he also had a unique command of color and mood, and he was also famous for his excellent painting of western " Beauty Painting " to show the life of court women. The flexible female body is one of the factors of strong expression in his paintings, and also his distinct personal style. This paper will focus on the techniques of his performance from many aspects.

The first part of the article will sort out the changes of The Times in which Godward lived and his own experience of apprenticeship. The era in which Godward was born was a period of rapid change in modern times. In the first half of his life, the popularity of neoclassicism influenced the school Godward chose. In the second half, cubism appeared, which directly led to a sharp turn in his career development. To better understand how Godward chose to become neoclassical and Pre-Raphaelite, The author also makes a good comparison between his learning experience and his subsequent inheritance and development, and analyzes how Godward formed his own stable and mature painting style.

From the second part, Godward 's own painting will be analyzed, mainly analyzing the factors of " Beauty " in his paintings of ladies, including the overall selection of the appearance of female characters, the unique treatment of the female body, and the appearance and suggestion of objects that cater to the noble status of women. This part focuses on the word " Beauty ". The painting style of ladies is one of the characteristics of Godward 's creation.

After exploring the question of " Beauty " from the aspect of character image, the third part will understand the composition, color and the relationship between people and objects in Godward 's picture from the method and form of creation conception. Godward never looked down on modeling, and he had different views on composition for different picture contents. His attitude towards composition and contour was very rigorous and advancedThere are different ways of color processing when dealing with pictures with different themes and emotions, and the relationship between the characters and the surrounding environment is echoed. This part is to study the scheduling ability of Godward on each link.

The last chapter returns to the author, summarizes Godward's inspiration and guidance to the author, and expounds my own understanding and conception of creation. At the same time, after absorbing other painting characteristics and modern factors, how do they help my creation.

Through the research, this paper further discusses the classical composition, solid foundation, steady tone and superb skills of Godward's ladies paintings, and analyzes the artistic image characteristics of his female images, which are lazy, noble and sentimental. Godward has shown its unique painting style by handling the relationship between outdoor natural space and characters, the texture description of marble wall and ground, the blooming plants, and the color matching of beautiful clothes.
