With the increasing congestion of urban traffic, the effectiveness and safety of vehicle lane-changing behavior have become significant topics in traffic management and driving psychology research. This study aims to investigate the impact of Vehicle-to- Vehicle (V2V) communication systems on drivers' willingness to cooperate in lane- changing within urban traffic scenarios, as well as the influence on drivers' emotional experience and prosocial driving tendencies. Combining qualitative and experimental research methods, this study first deeply understood drivers' behavior patterns, psychological states, and information transmission needs and expectations during the lane-changing process through semi- structured interviews. The findings revealed that although turn signal lights can effectively convey lane-changing intentions in most situations, factors such as aggressive driving behavior, safety concerns, and insufficient understanding of the lane- changing intentions can lead to the failure of lane-changing cooperation. In the experimental study, simulated driving scenarios were used to control variables such as Time to Collision (TTC), V2V communication types, and the importance of the lane-changing scenario, to assess their impact on drivers' willingness to cooperate in lane changes. The results indicated that non-urgent lane-changing scenarios and the use of V2V communication significantly increased drivers' willingness to cooperate in lane changes. Furthermore, V2V communication methods also improved drivers' emotional experiences, enhanced emotional arousal and emotional control, thereby increasing the tendency towards prosocial driving behavior. The findings of this study suggest that Vehicle-to-Vehicle communication systems can effectively promote cooperation between vehicles by providing richer and more direct means of information exchange, thereby improving traffic efficiency and safety. Additionally, the application of V2V systems can also enhance drivers' driving experience and sense of control over the driving situation, leading to more positive and friendly driving behaviors. In the future, the design and application of V2V systems need to further consider issues such as the frequency of information transmission, standardization, user choice, and privacy protection to ensure their effectiveness and acceptability in real traffic environments. |
