清代，程本《红楼梦》的刊行改变了此书长期以抄本形式流传所带来的供需矛盾，使得《红楼梦》得以迅速传遍大江南北，形成了“开谈不说红楼梦，读尽诗书也枉然”的热切讨论风气，在这种热潮的带动下，嘉庆时期短短二十余年间便有八位作者的九部《红楼梦》续书相继出现，形成《红楼梦》续书史上的一次创作盛况。本文意在通过对这些续书的全面探讨，深入分析这一时期续书的创作背景、叙述策略与人物形象塑造，同时通过对比，探究这一时期《红楼梦》续书对于其他类型小说的接受与借鉴，以及续书在才子佳人小说发展史上的价值。 全文共分三章，大致内容如下：第一章“嘉庆年间《红楼梦》续书创作风潮”，首先对这一时期续书的作者及续书动机进行探讨，而后结合对续书刊印流传状况的梳理，进一步明晰续作者作为《红楼梦》读者以及续书创作者的双重身份，认为这一时期《红楼梦》续书的创作既是作者借此抒发自家怀抱，弥补原书缺憾的方式，又是在当时刻书业发展、商业利益驱动下而生的必然结果。 第二章“续书叙述策略与人物塑造”，以文本细读的方式对续书的接续方式、叙事结构、叙述视角及人物塑造进行分析，一方面续作者尽量圆融地处理续书与《红楼梦》前书的接续关系，力图使得续书与前书逼肖，另一方面续作者又在创作中揉入了自己对于《红楼梦》主旨、人物形象、道德伦理、爱情婚姻等问题的看法，使得小说在叙事结构与叙述视角上都有独特之处，在人物塑造与命运改写上也增添了自身喜好。 第三章“续书对其他小说的批评借鉴”，通过纵横向地将续书与《红楼梦》原书、续书与其他续书进行对比，得出续书在情节设置、细节描写及人物命运设置上对《红楼梦》原书及其他续书的批评与借鉴，而后将续书置于清代才子佳人小说发展的进程中，考察续书对才子佳人小说的回归倾向以及续书在语言风格、故事情节、叙述方式等方面对《红楼梦》出现之前的才子佳人小说的超越与发展。

In the Qing Dynasty, the publication of A Dream in Red Mansions of Cheng version had changed the contradiction between insufficient supply and increasing demand caused by the fact that it was produced by relatively inefficient handwritten copies, and thanks to which, the novel was spread all over the country rapidly, forming a heated climate of one can not call himself erudite, without touching upon A Dream of Red Mansions in his talk. Led by this upsurge, there had been 8 authors releasing 9 different versions in a short period of 20 years under the reign of Emperor Jiaqing, and it created a flourishing event in the sequel history of A Dream in Red Mansions. This paper is intended to make a thorough analysis of these sequels, to analyze the creation background, the narrative strategies and the characterization of images in this period, and through comparison, to explore the reference that was drawn from novels of other types and the same period, as well as their significance to the novels of gifted scholars and beautiful ladies. The paper is divided into three chapters, and the general contents are as follows: Chapter 1：Creation upsurge of sequels to A Dream of Red Mansions under the reign of Emperor Jiaqing . First of all, the authors and their motive for the creation of the sequels are discussed, and then combining with the transmission and publicity of the sequels, the authors’ dual identity as both the reader and the co-author is clarified. Therefore, this paper holds that, the creation of the sequels to A Dream of Red Mansions is not only an inevitable result of literati’s ambition to remedy the original book, but also driven by commercial interests in the era of block printing. Chapter 2：Narrative strategies and characterization in the sequels . Analyzing the ways of continuity, narrative structures, narrative perspectives and characterization by intensive reading, the authors of these sequels, on the one hand, try to achieve harmony connection between the sequels and the original text and make them bear a close resemblance with each other; on the other hand, rub their views on the theme, character image, moral ethics and marriage of A Dream of Red Mansions, and add their preferences to the characterization and fate rewriting, which made the novel is quite unique in the narrative structure and narrative perspective. Chapter 3：Criticism to and reference from other novels . Through the longitudinal and transverse comparison between the original book, the sequels of different versions, the criticism to and reference from the original book and all the sequels is obtained in an all-round way, including plot setting, detailed description, character fate rewriting, etc.; and when these sequels are considered in the overall development of traditional scholar-beauty romances in Qing Dynasty, their regression tendencies and superiority to the previous romance novels are investigated, especially in the aspects of language style, plot setting, narrative mode and so on.
