20世纪30年代,中国期刊发展史上出现了“杂志年”的独特现象,期刊热的浪潮由上海席卷全国。彼时中国新文学正处于第二个十年的发展阶段,各种文学期刊如雨后春笋般涌现出来。然而由于复杂的社会环境,大多数期刊杂志逃不脱“短命”的魔咒。因此,《现代》杂志以其较长的发行时间、丰富的刊载内容和畅销的市场表现成为当时文学期刊的成功典范,格外引人注目。
本研究选取传播学中经典的“5W模式”作为理论框架,为《现代》杂志的研究提供一种传播学的视角,通过控制分析、内容分析、媒介分析、受众和传播效果分析,揭开它成为三十年代上海最受关注刊物的深层次原因,在这一过程中寻找当下文学期刊可引以为鉴之处。全文共分为五个部分:第一章主要内容为《现代》的基本概况,对杂志的创刊背景、办刊宗旨和编辑队伍进行介绍;第二章援引传播学中的“把关人”理论,对把关人即编辑的作用进行透视,分析《现代》的编辑策略;第三章对《现代》杂志进行梳理,在描绘真实状貌的基础上呈现其在文学传播方面的内容特色;第四章考察《现代》的媒介经营,主要从杂志设计、广告宣传、市场营销三方面展开论述;第五章为受众和传播效果分析,通过杂志销量、发行范围、文坛反响、所载作品的流传等方面衡量《现代》的传播效果,并分析它的历史价值以及对当下文学期刊的借鉴意义。

In the 1930s, the unique phenomenon of "magazine year" appeared in the development history of Chinese periodicals. The tide of periodical craze swept the whole country from Shanghai. At that time, Chinese new literature was in the development stage of the second decade, and various literary periodicals were springing up like mushrooms. However, due to the complex social environment, most journals and magazines can not escape the curse of "short life". Therefore, Les Contemporans with its long time of publication, rich content and best-selling market performance became the successful model of literary journals at that time, especially remarkable.
Based on the classic "5 w mode" as the theoretical framework, the study of magazine provides a communication perspective, through the analysis of the control analysis, content analysis, media analysis, audience and communication effect analysis, uncovered the reason why Les Contemporans became the most popular in the 1930s’ Shanghai and provide some useful reference for the development of contemporary literary journals. The full text is divided into five parts: the first chapter introduces the basic situation of Les Contemporans, including the founding background, the purpose of the journal, the editorial team; The second chapter, citing the "gatekeeper" theory in communication studies, analyzes the editing strategy from the perspective of the role of the gatekeeper. The third chapter combing Les Contemporans, on the basis of depicting the real appearance, presents its content characteristics in the aspect of literary communication; The fourth chapter examines the media management of Les Contemporans, mainly from three aspects: product design, advertising and marketing. The fifth chapter is the analysis of the audience and communication effect. It measures the communication effect from the aspects of magazine sales volume, distribution scope, literary world's response, the spread of the contained works and so on, and analyzes its historical value and the reference significance for current literary journals.
