短语动词因其庞大数量及多义性,不断成为英语学习者不得不面对的困难点。近来,有关短语动词的研究逐渐与认知语言学相结合,但关于短语动词的具体义项及其在日常口语中的使用研究尚少。本文以美国情景喜剧《生活大爆炸》(第十二季)中的对话为语料,通过自建语料库检索筛选出现频率最高的短语动词,并结合其小品词对他们的各个义项逐一分析。研究发现,高频短语动词的大多义项均与小品词的基本意向图式相关。其中,少数不相关义项则是其成分动词及小品词的延伸意义共同作用的结果。这印证了在短语动词的教学与学习中应用小品词的意向图示作为辅助的积极意义。

外文摘要:

For most English language learners, phrasal verbs (PVs) have been a difficult part for a long time due to the characteristics of productivity and polysemy, and research on PVs has tendency to be combined with cognitive linguistics. However, very little research pay attention to concrete meanings and usage of PVs used in daily spoken English. The aim of this study is therefore to find out highly frequent used PVs in spoken English and investigate their meanings from the perspective of image schema. Most PVs used in the conversations of The Big Bang Theory(12thseason) are selected with the help of corpus application and meanings of the most popular PVs are analyzed with reference to image schemas of their particles. Results show that most meanings of popular PVs are connected with basic image schemas of their particles. And some meanings with little relevance to particles’ basic image schemas are caused by common influence of extended meanings of both verbs and particles. This suggests that knowledge of image schemas of particles are helpful to understand high-frequency meanings of PVs, which should be paid more attention in future classroom.
