清代，是永定河河道变迁史上的重要时期，这段时期内，永定河河道固定下来，曾在康熙雍正朝安流数十年，永定河的名称也由原来的桑干河、卢沟河、浑水、无定河变为永定河。但是，河道固定之后又产生了新的问题，自乾隆以后，对于永定河的治理、对水灾的防治又成为清政府在畿辅之内的重要工程。永定河治理工程不断，大量的水利工程为后世留下了丰富的碑刻资料，这些碑刻具有鲜明的地域特点，类型多样，其内容记载了永定河的治理工程、清政府对永定河治理的政策等史实，反映了清代永定河流域用水习俗与水利纠纷、水神信仰、农田水利建设、大堤防护等方面的水利面貌；一些皇帝的御制诗文也被刻在石碑上，这些诗文也反映了清帝对于永定河治理的态度。此外，在永定河流域内，还有其他与水利有关的碑刻存世，其内容涉及用水习俗、水利纠纷、水神信仰、农田水利建设、大堤防护等多个方面，因此，这些水利碑刻对于我们认识、研究清代永定河流域内的基本水利面貌具有重要的价值。

The Qing Dynasty was an important period on the history of the Yongding River’s variance of water ways, when the channel of Yongding River became stable and ran peacefully for tens of years during the Kangxi and Yongzheng period. Before this period Yongding River was formerly named as Sanggan River, Lugou River, Hun River and Wuding River (which means changing all the time). However, new problems arose after the channel of Yongding River became stable, such as the regulation of this river, the flood control, all these became important issues of the court after the Qianlong period. These projects left many different inscribed steles with distinct local features, and the inscriptions that recorded faithfully the regulation of Yongding River, the policies of the Qing Court, also reflected the water using practices, the irritation disputes, the faith in water god, congstruction of farmland irrigation and the protection of riverbanks in the Yongding River valley. Some of the poems and essays of the emperors were carved to the steles, which also showed their attitudes towards the regulation of the Yongding River. In addition, there were other inscribed steles kept, relevant to the the water using practices, the irritation disputes, the faith in water God, congstruction of farmland irrigation, the protection of riverbanks. Therefore, this paper holds that these inscribed steles are quite valuable in the research of the basic water conservancy features of the Yongding River Valley.
