新中国成立后，急需大批具有一定文化水平的新型劳动者和具有较高文化素质的各级领导干部。面对拥有大批文盲的社会现实，大力开展扫盲运动，加强干部队伍的文化建设，成为当时亟待解决的重要问题。 北京这座历史悠久的古都，不仅是政治、文化的中心，也是开创近代意义的成人教育的发源地之一。新中国成立后，社会主义建设提高了对劳动者素质的需求，激发了党和政府对成人教育的重视，也激发了广大民众的学习热情。北京市的成人教育逐渐形成了从扫盲到初等、中等乃至高等的教育体系。 1958年在全国各行各业“大跃进”的形势下，北京市成人教育也掀起了大规模的跃进运动。本文在搜集整理了当时的档案资料、报刊资料的基础上对北京市成人教育“大跃进”的历史进行了回顾与分析。论述了北京市成人教育“大跃进”发生的背景、指导思想、发展过程、及表现形式。对当时的师资、教材、办学特点进行了分析阐述。归纳总结了北京成人“大跃进”的得失成败的经验教训。北京市成人教育的“大跃进”既有急躁冒进、急于求成的地盲目发展，存在着弄虚作假、虚报浮夸的风气，也有对提高劳动者素质，完善北京市成人教育体系的积极作用。本文力图客观地呈现出北京市成人教育“大跃进”的真实概况，并通过探寻北京市成人教育管理机构的变化调整、师资队伍建设等诸多问题，对成人教育发展产生的影响，探究成人教育自身的发展规律，有助于我们理解看待今天成人教育发展中的各种问题。

After the fouding of new China, we were badly in need of a large quantity of new labors with certain level and cadres with higher quality. In the face of the illiteracy reality, it was important for us to carry out literacy campaign and strengthen leaders’cultural construction.Beijing, as an ancient capital, having a long history, is not only political and cultural center, but also ushers China’s adult education.. After the founding of new China, Communist Party and Government began to foucus on adult education due to socialist construction needed higher qulaity labors, which inspired the learing passion of the public. The adult edcuation in Beijing has been involved from literacy to elementry , milddle and even higher education system.In 1958, China began the movement of The Great Leap Forward in every industry, Beijing’s adult education also sparked a massive leap movement. This article generalized good and bad lesssons of adult education in the leap time by reviewing and analyzing it from archival materials, newspapers and periodicals to elaborate it’s background, guaiding ideology, developing process and styles and analyze the teaching staff, teaching materials and operating characteristics. The adult education in Beijing blindly developed with impetuosity and anxiousness and made false report and boasted its achievements. But it also had some good aspects, such as enhancing labors’ qualities and improving the adult education system. This article tries to objectively present the true profiles of adult education in leap time and explors its impat on development and its developing system by searching for the problems in adjustment of its management organization and its teaching staff, etc. It is good for us to understand the various problems in the development of today’s adult eduaction.
