网络爱国主义教育指在网络时代背景下特定的爱国主义教育者充分利用互联网教育资源与教育手段，对受教育者施加一定的爱国主义思想影响的教育活动，具有教育主体多元性、教育资源丰富性、教育活动交互性的典型特征。新时代背景下，深化网络爱国主义教育是时代新人成长成才、适应当代青年思想行为、培养自由全面发展的社会主义建设接班人的育人需要，是推动互联网时代下传统爱国主义教育转型、破解“信息茧房”阻碍、提升爱国主义教育主体素质的现实需要，也是防范互联网文化渗透现象、抵制历史虚无主义思潮、维护国家安全的形势需要，因此新时代深化网络爱国主义教育具有极强的必要性。

就其现状而言，新时代网络爱国主义教育资源进一步丰富、渠道进一步拓宽、效率进一步提升，但网络爱国主义教育的内容质量有待提升、话语缺乏影响力、落实缺乏有效保障的问题仍旧凸显。因此，新时代深化网络爱国主义教育，从内容建设上看应完善教育内容体系、突出重点主题爱国主义教育内容、进一步开拓网络爱国主义资源；从形式创新上看，应创新话语形式、优化平台建设、丰富活动载体；从环境保障上看，应加强网络空间舆论引导、完善网络法规与执法保障、加强网络爱国主义教育队伍建设，进一步提升新时代网络爱国主义教育的实效性。
